Pine bark extract found to ease symptoms of osteoarthritis

A new study conducted at Italy’s Chieti-Pescara University has discovered the ability of a natural pine bark extract to reduce pain and increase mobility in osteoarthritis patients.

Research found that Pycnogenol, a natural plant extract originating from the bark of the maritime pine that grows along the coast of south-west France, lowered joint pain by 55 per cent, reduced stiffness by 53 per cent and increased mobility in patients almost three-fold.

Widely studied over the course of the last 35 years, the natural pine extract is found to contain "a unique combination of procyanidins, bioflavonoids and organic acids", which offers extensive health benefits.

Lead researcher Dr Gianni Belcaro commented: "The results of this study are significant as they clearly demonstrate the clinical action of Pycnogenol on osteoarthritis and management of symptoms. The use of Pycnogenol may reduce costs and side effects of anti-inflammatory agents and offer a natural alternative solution to people suffering from osteoarthritis."

Pycnogenol is currently available in over 600 dietary supplements and health products worldwide.ADNFCR-1506-ID-18556522-ADNFCR
