Nicotine - a wonder drug?

A DRUG now undergoing testing may have an extraordinary range of applications, if it lives up to expectations. There is evidence that it can lower the risk of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases, calm children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), soothe an irritable bowel, help people with an underactive thyroid, reduce the symptoms of schizophrenia and reverse memory loss in the elderly.

However, this is not some new wonder drug - it is nicotine. What is new is that this bad, addictive drug is being given a medical makeover.
