Television and newspaper articles regarding abuse of narcotics and opioids are rampant these days, due to the over-prescription to just about anyone in pain (including children). Surgery, injury, illness, tooth extraction, you name it … narcotics and/or opioid are prescribed. The very real problem is that use of any of the many types and combinations of these substances for more than a week may trigger an addiction. Every single piece of research world-wide that references narcotics and opioids reflects the immense danger for usage.

It’s true that both state and federal governments along with national pharmacy chains and local pharmacists are doing the best they can to curb usage. Once hooked, a patient often struggles between the original pain and the pain of narcotic withdrawal. Many post-addiction patients claim the addiction withdrawal was far worse than the original pain.

A great deal of research has been published on addiction and the science of addition recovery. The recidivism of long term addicts falling back into addictive usage is astounding and overwhelming; over 90%! It’s become a national epidemic with no nationally accepted solutions; save the ones that involve using a different concoction of narcotic for the patient substituting one problem for another.

From the CDC recently: Overview of an epidemic …

Drug overdose deaths and opioid-involved deaths continue to increase in the United States. Deaths from drug overdose are up among both men and women, all races, and adults of nearly all ages.

More than three out of five drug overdose deaths involve an opioid. Opioids are substances that work on the nervous system in the body or specific receptors in the brain to reduce the intensity of pain. Overdose deaths from opioids, including prescription opioids and heroin, have more than quadrupled since 1999.  Overdoses involving opioids killed more than 28,000 people in 2014.  Over half of those deaths were from prescription opioids. Over a million opioid overdose deaths in from 2000-2015

The universal question arises: What else can we use? The answer: Cannabidiols from industrial Hemp.

The US government has had a patent on Cannabidiol (CBD) for decades; where its description is “a neurological protectant.” CBDs are oils derived from cannabis plants, of which there are two types: hemp, and marijuana. While genetically sister plants, they are not twins … one (marijuana) contains THC (a substance that make the user high), while the other (Hemp) does not. Both can be used medically, but only one is safe for use on everyone with no high, no side-effects, and no addiction … Cannabidiol.

Reams and reams of research around the world prove and amplify the extraordinary use and potential of CBD for nearly all neurological conditions including pain management. Seizures, Alzheimer’s, bipolar disorder, headaches, fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s, depression, anxiety, and dozens more conditions respond to this amazingly potent all-natural substance. Critics say it’s too good to be true. Researchers universally agree that it is unequivocally a viable substitute for Narcotics and Opioids.

The remarkable conundrum is that CBDs along with Marijuana is considered a class one drug. Due to the vilification of Marijuana over the past 6 decades, extraordinarily conservative politicians, patients, physicians, and some religious groups fear it’s the same as marijuana and that it’s use will be addictive, or a “gateway” to something worse: like opioids or narcotics. This ludicrous assumption is diametrically opposed to the truth. In fact, CBDs actually aid in the withdrawal from other drugs, including marijuana and alcohol.

The fact that CBDs are such an incredibly sane answer to the insane world of narcotics and opioids, escapes many. All, that is, but the ones who’ve researched and proved their efficacy; or the ones who’ve prescribed and used them on countless patients with unbelievable success.

“So what’s standing in the way of its universal use in the US?  Its classification and the fear that the Feds will step in, said Dr. Koch, Editor at www.WorldHealth.net. “The law needs to be changed so that we can get on with correcting the opioid and narcotic addition problem, and the deaths and injuries thereof.”
