NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, formerly known as the University of Roorkee, is planning to set up a centre of excellence in the areas of nanotechnology and nanosciences within its campus. The institute is also exploring the possibility of setting up a centre of excellence for transport engineering.

The institute is also exploring the possibility of setting up a centre of excellence for transport engineering. In India, there is a dearth of institutes offering courses on nanotechnology and nanosciences in contrast to the high requirement of experts in the same area. According to an international website, nanotechnology can be described as activities at the level of atoms and molecules that have applications in the real world.
