US States Most Invested in Staying Young

According to a December 2025 report on anti-aging trends across America, Californians are most invested in staying and looking young. The study by the stem cell treatment center Auragens examined all 50 states by analyzing cosmetic procedures, physical activity levels, and diet choices among residents.

  • Californians put most effort into trying to stay young, with residents undergoing nearly 4 million cosmetic procedures annually.
  • People in Massachusetts look up anti-aging treatments more than anyone else, with 1 in every 10 residents checking Botox and related procedures.
  • Colorado residents follow the healthiest diets in America, while more than 80% of the population leads an active lifestyle.

The research looked at how often people get cosmetic procedures, both surgical and non-surgical treatments like Botox, to see where these interventions are most common. It also tracked lifestyle factors such as gym access, diet quality, and physical activity, since staying active and eating well play a big role in looking young. Each state received an Anti-Aging Effort Score from 1 to 99 based on how much residents invest in their appearance.

The Top 10 States Most Invested in Staying Young

1. California

  • Cosmetic surgical procedures: 226,300
  • Minimally invasive procedures: 3,697,002
  • Anti-aging search interest per 10K: 841
  • Plastic surgeons per 10K: 0.19
  • Physical inactivity: 21.2%
  • Anti-Aging Effort Score: 99

California residents are most committed to staying young in America. Nearly 4 million cosmetic procedures happen every year in the state, far more than in any other region. With demand this high, the state has over 750 plastic surgeons to meet the need. Beyond beauty care, Californians also try to stay active, with around 80% working out regularly and 70% following healthy diets.

2. Massachusetts

Massachusetts comes next as the second most obsessed state with staying young. Residents look up anti-aging therapies more often than anyone else in the country, and that curiosity turns into nearly 500,000 cosmetic procedures annually. Locals also put their own efforts into staying in good shape, with nearly 80% following an active lifestyle and taking advantage of more than 1000 gyms across the state.

3. New York

New York comes next on the list. While residents don’t put much effort into workouts and healthy diets to look better, they make up for it through cosmetic interventions. Nearly 1 in 10 New Yorkers regularly check anti-aging treatments online. And they don’t just browse, people here undergo 1.1 million minimally invasive procedures and nearly 60,000 cosmetic operations each year, with over 400 plastic surgeons handling the work.

4. Florida

Florida ranks fourth, and like New Yorkers, residents here prefer cosmetic shortcuts over fitness and healthy eating. Nearly a third of Floridians never exercise, even though there are nearly 3,000 gyms in the state. But looking good still remains a priority for them, with over 2.3 million cosmetic procedures performed in the state each year, mostly non-surgical treatments that fix what an inactive lifestyle can create.

5. Connecticut

Connecticut rounds out the top five states most committed to staying young. While New York and Florida lean on cosmetic procedures, people in Connecticut take a wellness approach to fight aging. The state has more fitness centers per person than anywhere else in the rankings, and roughly three-quarters of residents work out regularly. Plus, they also eat better than most Americans. Cosmetic procedures still happen though, with about 11,000 surgeries and 208,000 smaller treatments being performed annually in the state.

Dr. Dan Briggs, President and CEO of Auragens, commented on the study:

“What’s changed over the last decade is that anti-aging procedure doesn’t mean surgery anymore. Minimally invasive procedures now make up the majority of cosmetic treatments because they’re faster, cheaper, and require no recovery time. Someone can get Botox during lunch and go back to work the same day. So it’s not only for wealthy people anymore; it’s a mainstream thing, basically for anyone who wants to smooth out wrinkles.”
