British researchers have developed a scanner that tells a person where they need to lose weight and suggests exercises for them. The scanner, which produces a 3-D image of the body in just 30-seconds by measuring the body’s effect on an electromagnetic field, was developed by Henri Tapp and colleagues at the Institute of Food Research in Norwich, Norfolk. The researchers say the scanner could be used to spot those at increased risk of diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease, where body shape is known to be a risk factor. It may also be useful for monitoring fat development in children, pregnant women, and in people recovering from injuries.
