Dr Goldman talks with Dr Eduardo DeRose about the challenges surrounding anti doping in the Beijing Olympics. Dr DeRose has been working with the IOC for nearly 25 years, since the LA Olympics in 1984 and this summer there will be 204 countries involved with the games. The IOC has always come up with way to detect the latest doping techniques, from anabolics to testosterone, but the latest challenge will come in the form of genetic engineering. Studies with animals have shown muscle gains of over 20% and some athletes will be looking to replicate these gains to optimise their performance.
