(Conscious Life Expo Part 4)
David Wolfe is a best-selling author, keynote speaker, holistic health coach, and founder of the non-profit Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, and he is known as a health advocate, particularly promoting raw foodism and alternative medicine. David “Avocado” Wolfe is a personality in the fields of alternative medicine, natural health, beauty, and nutrition, and in some circles, he has been described as a “huckster” and “conspiracy theorist” as some of his practices are not exactly what one would call mainstream. As a public figure, he opens himself to criticism, but is not being mainstream really a bad thing?
While being scientifically congruent is important, shouldn’t attempting to eat healthily, and live a healthier lifestyle, while offering love and hope of a path away from the unhealthiness and addiction that are so common in our society to other people to be encouraged? Sure, some of his topics may not have mainstream science backing or they might be “a little out there” to some, but what he is offering is healing, love, and hope.
I was lucky enough to sit in a panel discussion on radical healing as well as one of David Wolfe’s lectures at the Conscious Life Expo called “Make America Healthy Again!” David seems to be very adept at reading people, and while the same thing doesn’t work for everyone, he was able to find what people were looking for and offer options. He trusts that people are able to decide for themselves if it sounds good for them or if it is not worth their while, and that they will also do their own research.
The food system is not what it once was
David Wolfe’s impact on the food system in regard to organic and raw diets can’t be denied. He was one of the first to bring superfoods like raw and organic cacao nibs, butter, powders goji berries, maca extract, and cold-pressed coconut oil to general distribution in America.
He warns people that the food system is not what it once was and is now peddling addiction and poisons, to question government decisions you don’t understand, and that the media is selling us fear and hate. He reminds us that life is short, unpredictable, and it flies by in the blink of an eye. David Wolfe is offering us hope to reclaim what we have lost for one reason or another and to remember that it is never too late to push ourselves to become better.
We are not meant to live in a state of dis-ease, when we are unhealthy it is hard to do anything, let alone be happy. David Wolfe wants to empower people so that we can transform our lives for the better.
David Wolfe wants to make America healthy again
This year at the Conscious Life Expo David Wolfe spoke about radical healing and making America healthy again, among other things. Most people have no idea how to eat healthy anymore, and let’s face it the food system is a disaster intertwined with corporate agenda and bad lifestyle choices making things worse. To add to this many people now live in food deserts and don’t have access to healthy foods.
Did you know that 10,000 chemicals are permitted within the American food supply, while over in Europe only 400 are permitted? David promotes a mostly raw whole food diet that is based on unprocessed foods that can have a detoxifying effect while supplying our body with the essential vitamins, minerals, fats, protein, carbohydrates and antioxidants it needs to function.
Although David Wolfe promotes a mostly raw whole-food diet, he does not believe that there is a “one diet that fits all” approach and he cautions people to be careful if they are attempting to switch to a raw diet, especially with the extra fiber intake which can cause digestive issues. David believes that the nutrient content in raw food is better; whatever your opinion is, cooking food is processing it.
He loves the idea of organic raw food because it is a “natural rhythm” that is “uncontaminated by human hands and genetically modified ingredients” (GMOs). He will not eat anything GMO. David Wolfe has been a vegetarian for over 30 years and was 100% raw vegan for over 17 years before being drawn back into eating some cooked foods again by sweet potato soup and quinoa.
David Wolfe says that a raw food diet “is part of the creator’s original intent. It’s a yogic. So if you are oriented towards yoga, longevity, spirituality, cleaning your body out, and detoxing in a toxic World, this is a great path for you, once you find the right balance of raw food for you.”
When asked what his greatest accomplishment was he responded that “All triumphs are ultimately triumphs against the self, against the voices that say no you can just sleep in longer, no you don’t need to get up, no you can do something else, no you should just eat something, no you don’t have to fast. Those are the most powerful triumphs in my opinion. So it would have something to do with the triumph of willpower.”
Take away
In summary, David Wolfe tours the World enthusiastically talking about radical healing, nutrition, superfoods, fasting, inner well-being, mushrooms, herbs for healing, self-love, self-care, going organic, plant medicine, the law of attraction, spirituality, manifesting, yoga, indoctrination, global healing, hyper synchronicity, spending time in nature, grounding, reducing the use of plastics, and sustainable living.
He also speaks about dental health, detoxing mind and body, positive mindsets, toxic viral loads, and combating pollution, but it is not uncommon for his lectures to sidestep into other topics and things that most people don’t take the time to understand. But for the most part, those in the audience are captivated by him both for the information he provides and the performance as he is rather charismatic and always adds a hint of levity when things get too heavy.
Looking back David Wolfe was an inspirational speaker who was viral long before social media existed, and although his lectures are packed, even if only one person was there he still believes that it would be worth it. People go to see him for many reasons, but they are always looking for something profound and life-changing.
Perhaps because he knows what it is like to be searching for healing, and to be battling personal demons that helps him dive deep to help people. David Wolfe’s messages center around boosting energy and vitality through conscious choices in nutrition and lifestyle to promote a sense of well-being and self-care.
He focuses on finding inner joy and purpose through nourishing the body, mind, and spirit suggesting that it leads to a more fulfilling and vibrant life. If that is wrong, I don’t want to be right. While his methods may not be for everyone, and I may not agree with everything he says, he makes very valid points. Critics and cynics can keep attacking him and his theories, he doesn’t care. David Wolfe helps heal people, and that’s what he cares about.
