Aging Increases Documented Risk of Nutritional Deficits

None of us are immune to becoming malnourished, look at the stats. This is an excerpt of one of my slides from my December 2011 A4M presentation.

Many elderly are at high risk of deficient intakes of some essential nutrients.

Total calories, calcium, vitamin B6, magnesium and zinc are most frequently below the recommendations for the elderly.

Caloric intake averaged only 80 percent of the RDA for elderly men and 73 percent for elderly women, according to data from CSF II surveys.
