i have a dvt in my lower left left, behind the knee. It always occurs in the same plce. I was taken off coumadin slowly and the clot returned, so I was put on comadin for the rest of my life. It has been more than 12 years. I'm worried about the side effects. My current doctor says not to avoid green leafy vegetables, but instead to increase them as they provide many healthful and necessary vitochemicals, vitamins, and minerals. That may be true, but I'm on 10mg. of coumadin and when I accidently cut myself it takes forever to stop. Can anyone advise an alternative to coumadin? I'm 64, and am very healthy otherwise!
