Primary Immunodeficieny Disease (PID) encompasses about 100 different genetic disorders that predispose a child to recurring infections. It affects about 10 million people worldwide and as many as 1 in every 500 people in the United States. PID commonly goes misdiagnosed, and without the right treatments, hearing loss, lung scarring, and even death can occur.
